What an busy year 2010 has already shaped up to be and it’s only half way through!
April 2010 saw another buying trip back to Africa. This time my travels took me up north through the Limpopo province in South Africa and up to the Zimbabwe border. Again, this country does not disappoint visually. To the rocky escarpments that are Limpopo, to the diverse rainforest landscapes that are Tzaneen – it was seriously breathtaking!
This trip focussed on rural craft developments which are being sponsored and supported by the Department of Trade and Industry, South Africa. The focus is on providing local villages with sustainable materials, facilities and infrastructure – enabling them to utilise traditional craft methods to create some amazing products, however empowering them with modern business skills in order to get the crafts to markets within major cities. Of course, this in turn empowers a future generation with traditional knowledge and skills mixed with modern business tools.
From Always up on the Northern Zimbabwe border, we headed back to the Mozambique border and hugged the Great Kruger Park (encountering some local wildlife en-route) and experience the fabulous parts of rural South Africa.
I have uploaded some wondering images in the Gallery of this wonderful adventure. All product from this buying trip is now in warehouse and ready for viewing.
